儘管祕魯的亞馬遜雨林以超高的年降雨量著稱,該地卻有半數的人口無法獲取水源。亞馬遜盆地的地形使得河道產生連續不斷的變化,加上洪水期接二連三地出現,嚴重妨礙傳統水源及污水下水道系統的實施計畫。不僅如此,近期亞馬遜城市的快速擴張和散落於各處的原鄉領地更阻斷了下水道管網系統的建設推展,而工程所需的完善投資和規劃更是乏善可陳。同樣地,這些管網系統的興建工作也意味著對於環境和社會帶來的重大影響(由於它們會經過許多受保護之區域),且後續的維修保養工作更需仰賴固定資金投入。藉由自治系统的設計,我們試圖達到降低因設置和維護管線網絡所產生的環境和經濟成本之效果。

In the Peruvian Amazon, half of the population does not have access to water, despite having high levels of annual rainfall. This is due to the geography of the Amazon Basin, which hinders the implementation of traditional water and sewage networks because of the continuous shift of river courses and recurrent flood seasons. Additionally, the recent and rapid urban expansion of Amazonian cities and the dispersed territorial occupation of native communities hinder the construction of pipe networks that require a lot of planning and investment. Likewise, the construction of these networks implies strong environmental and social impacts (as they would pass through protected territories) and require constant investments for their maintenance. By designing an autonomous system, we seek to reduce the environmental and economic costs generated in the implementation and maintenance of pipe networks.
