Created in 1956, today its collection includes more than 7,000 works of modern and contemporary Argentine and international art from the 20th and 21st centuries. It has 4,000 m2 dedicated both to exhibiting its heritage and to presenting temporary exhibitions of national and foreign artists. Nestled in the traditional and touristic neighborhood of San Telmo the Museum is geographically removed from the busiest art circuits. Even with the region's most important collection, the Museum must make a superior communication effort to achieve visibility and notoriety on this map.

Wishbone Design Studio’s mission is to support independence, confidence and active lifestyles for children aged 1 to 5. Learning to walk and ride should be easy for the very young, encouraging them into a lifetime of carbon-free mobility. But children grow up fast. Can we design a simple ride-on that fits perfectly and supports each development stage from 12months to school? Waste is a major concern in the US$ 20 billion-a-year global toy industry, where 90% of toys are made from plastic. Most toys end up as landfill. Wishbone Bike RE2 should set a new standard in bike and toy design, minimising raw materials and transforming waste into heirlooms.

In creating the Platzhirsch e-bike made of steel we combined new technologies with sophisticated design and revolutionized frame construction using 3D printing. Essential for the reinterpretation of the frame structure was the demand for a balanced relationship between form and function, which led to an aesthetic and user-oriented overall appearance. At the same time, we attach great importance to a sustainable value chain, which is why we have anchored the majority of our production regionally in Germany.

The project seeks for a close relation between the old romanesque architecture and the architecture of nowadays. During the concept fase were study all of the Romanesque typology present in the region extracting of this research the most easily recognised elements of this architecture for transposing them into a contemporary building. The final design seek for a contemporary approach of this Romanesque elements that allow people to immediately recognise that this new build as something to do with the old romanesque buildings. Once inside, the scale, the light and the proportion of the spaces was also based on the old romanesque buildings, remind us the ancient Romanesque construction. One of the most challenging things of this design was the impact on the center of the village during its construction. The build is very auster, like all of the architecture of the romanesque period, and in the first instance this austerity was not being welcomed. Now with the building completed they full understand his meaning and the building is much loved for the whole population.

Common Clearings is sensory art experience created through ordinary elements: colored fabric and, notably: the wind and the sun. The work explores the rooftop as a space for collective reflection, play and simply: being. Common Clearings is created as a part of the Sinnesrausch (“Sensoryhigh”) exhibition at the OÖ Kulturquartier in Linz 2019. The work consists of a physical installation and a book entitled “Common Clearings- a collection of text on human fundamentals”. as a strange and artificial forest it offers both a grove, a more compact forest and a central clearing where the audience is invited to lie down. With 'Common clearings' we have attempted to create a friendly yet foreign world using ordinary elements: notably the intensely red fabric and the wind, defining a shared clearing. The book 'common clearings - a collection of texts on shared fundamentals' is available in the installation. The text relates to the fundamentals we all share: from the sun and sky to the nearer world of landscapes and cities. The texts explore intricate wonders of the physical and social world, while also addressing the radical change we face - and the urgency of taking action. The work is a response to the curatorial ambition of using the impressive roof as a place for artistic experimentation, exploring the senses and the city. With this backdrop we wanted to explore the vision of a collective place for contemplation and reflection.

GAOBU BOOK HOUSE: A CHILDREN’S LIBRARY FOR A DONG MINORITY RURAL VILLAGE. The Gaobu Book House serves the 2,500 people of Gaobu Village, one of the Dong minority villages located on the Pingtan River in Tongdao County, Hunan Province. Like many other Chinese villages, Gaobu Village is challenged by the so-called “village hollowing” in which the working-age population migrate. The Dong Minority community of China possess a unique cultural heritage rooted in land and customs. After surviving hundreds of years, modernization today poses a serious threat to Dong’s identity. Having visited and lived with the villagers of Gaobu, we have come to realize that something can be done to help preserve and restore this beautiful community. Rather than accepting urban migration as a given, this project aims to restore dignity and induce development by proposing a small children’s library project that allows children to learn and have fun at the same time. Playing and curiosity come natural to children, hence our design generates an “active” architecture that allows children to engage and absorb knowledge through playing. A Timber House Every Dong building follows a set of unwritten rules which are interpreted by the carpenter and adapted according to the site. This process establishes a sort of architectural genetic code where no two buildings are the same, yet belong to a common language. Our design takes the traditional Dong house “Ganlan” as the creative starting point, where local timber is used for the framing and the timber frame is adapted and reconfigured as to accommodate different programmatic and spatial configurations. This spatial subversion generates a building that at first glance appears traditional, however on closer inspection, new unconventional relationships emerge. By working with-in the system, rather than against the system, materiality and craftsmanship inject new life back into the village. The idea of adjusting existing building typologies is a notion that has always resonated within Dong culture. Villagers, by a process of osmosis, construct buildings similar to their neighbours. Hence if one family builds a concrete frame house, others quickly follow suits, attracted by the modern conveniences the new system brings. Following the same philosophy, should our prototype be seen as a success, it could inspire other neighbouring villages to introduce similar programmes and in the process launch a network of book centers. A House of Stairs Having witnessed how stairs become a key architectural element in Dong daily life, a place where people usually congregate around and especially a place where children love to play, stairs became the generating idea of the building. The library becomes a dynamic circulation and programmatic vessel for villages to interact. The idea is that while children are playing they can also stop and read books or listen to a story, rather than a chore, reading becomes fun. “The stair is itself as a space, a volume, a part of the building and unless this space is made to live it will be a dead spot” (Alexander, Ishikawa and Silverstein 1977) Most children within Gaobu are raised by their grandparents until the age of ten when they are forced, due to lack of facilities, to leave and study in nearby towns. Educational facilities such as schools and libraries are scarce, hence our idea was to offer an educational incubator, a house for children to learn through playing. The 200m² timber 2 story structure revolves around a central stair that acts both as a means of circulation and identity of the building. The ground floor is conceived as a covered public open space for public gatherings and local exhibitions, while each wall of the above house is dedicated to a specific educational theme. The internal spaces become rooms where people can engage in classes and public events while the stairs acts as reading area. By activating the façade through the design of the stairs, the building becomes a dynamic vessel for villagers to interact with rather than static object building devoid of life. At a time when the digital world seems to have embraced all facets of contemporary society, books offer the children of Gaobu a means to dis-connect and dream about their future.

To celebrate 150 years of alpinism in the Dolomites of Sesto a climbable and traversable installation is thought, which discloses the writings of the first climbs in the Sesto’s peaks, as collected in the summit books. In this way, these moments become part of the collective memory of the community. After summer 2019, the installation dissolves into its basic modules of local pine and steel cubes which will be recombined as benches and placed throughout the territory and allow the installation to continue to be present in the daily life of the community and to a create new collective memory.

For the Federal Horticultural Exhibition 2019 in Heilbronn a central meeting point was to be created in the Forum Heilbronn. It was intended to be unique, atmospheric and at the same time informative. 10 swings, 2 times 10 monitors and 12 themes depicted the attractiveness of Heilbronn playfully and unconventionally. The ten swings, in connection with the monitors swinging with them above, opened up a new spatial dynamic and reflected the central idea of "Heilbronn in motion". The open space allowed the observation of the contents from any given position - standing or sitting on the podium, strolling through the room or actively on one of the swings. The ground was animated with atmospheric images and patterns, conveying a feeling of freedom and lightness. The reflecting roof surface projected the interior happenings outwards and aroused the curiosity of the guests.

The brief was simply; keep an important building and school alive in its local, national and international communities. The auditorium is not just seismically strengthened, it is re-acknowledged and re-fitted back to its community. New finishes are secondary and placed within an open-space framework to capture light from the original brick façade and inform musical education. Further generations may now again look to the auditorium for inspiration before learning in the same greenrooms, practice and stage spaces as their heroes.

This is the rental apartment combined with housing and working place. We remodeled two-story steel structure apartment built in 1980 in Nerima-ku, Tokyo. This project's concept is »Nariwai x Living« as a response to diversification of living and working styles in the Greater Tokyo in recent years. This idea is inspired from how people lives in the early-modern Machiya building. The design points are the following three points. 1. A rental apartment that has a dirt floor space where you can "nariwai" such as shops and ateliers in all units. 2. Designed as a place that connects with the community by connecting the "Nariwai" space with the terrace and common rooms. 3. Designed as a place where the residents and the community have a point of contact by regularly holding a Marche centered on the residents. It is a renovation plan for dilapidated rental apartments that is often seen all over Japan. While new condominiums were being built one after another, the future demand due to the drastic change in the sense of value was uncertain, and everyone, including the landlord, strongly felt the need for a personality that could differentiate it from others. There is also a desire to bring sustainable value and culture to the area for landlords who have lived in the local area for many years, and in response to the recent diversification of work styles and the times when it is possible to work as a side business, Nariwai type rental set that can live and live while living. I tried housing. At the same time, when the value of living together was reconsidered, it was also requested to promote self-government, which is important in terms of disaster prevention, as communication between residents becomes active. In accordance with the concept of the Nariwai type, we created a wide "dirt floor" at the entrance to create an open space where residents can create and communicate as messes and workshops. In each room, the walls were covered with veneer, and self-renovation (DIY) was recommended for the residents, enabling a more flexible way of living to suit various lifestyles. Residents who want DIY are also people who want to think and make their own, and as a result, people who naturally have a sense of autonomy including building maintenance and disaster prevention gathered. A "terrace" was established outside the building as a part that connects gently to the town. Marche is held once every two months and is a place where you can interact with the community. The terrace also serves as a coordinating residential unit as a private space and public by providing a psychological barrier as a partial entrance using the height difference from the road.

Founded in Hong Kong, K11 Craft & Guild Foundation (KCG) is a non-profit arts and culture foundation with a mission to laud and preserve traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Through reviving vastly rich yet fading artistry, KCG provides a platform to support and nurture emerging Chinese craftspeople, who build upon tradition and bring forth the future of contemporary craft and guild. Centred around the notions of skill and expertise, the brand identity is conceived upon the expression of intricacies that so often define the mastery required of each craft. The logo presents a modern interpretation of the Chinese character ‘工’ forming a bold yet simple statement. The details are derived from the chamfered corners of the English wordmark, exemplifying the subtle refinement of contemporary artistry. To form a holistic branding identity, a stationery set was created together with an array of packaging and publications in both the physical and digital realms. A set of four books were designed to feature the four types of artistry currently KCG is dedicated to advocate and preserve, namely Guangcai, Baibaoqian, Plaster Moulding and Wooden Architecture. Additionally, a perfectly fitted gift box was carefully devised to encase a ceramic plate decorated in delicate Guangcai.

Kata is an ergonomic range of monitor arms with over 100 possible configurations, offering more flexibility than any other system. Particular focus was given to the quality of the motion. We developed a unique weight compensating gas spring mechanism which can be tuned for a variety of monitor weights; delivering smooth, consistent movement. Kata was designed for ESI in USA and developed with a Taiwanese partner. Kata is fully manufactured in Taiwan. Incorporating maximum modularity without compromising function or aesthetics was a key goal. Interchangeable parts enable users to grow or shrink the system, tailoring to specific requirements. Innovations include a patent pending central collar grip - allowing arms to be placed where necessary - as well as a slider offering 9.5" of additional horizontal adjustment. ESI were the first to develop a patented slider. Kata is a work tool used for extensive periods. With this in mind, a clean quiet aesthetic was applied. We wanted to relay a sense of modernity and focus, stripping all unnecessary details. Except for those which require access, there are not visible fixings. A discreet gauge eases installation, saving time and money - especially helpful for large installations. Kata is fully recyclable and engineered to be easily separated.

靜岡國際戲劇季是由SPAC(靜岡表演藝術中心)所主辦的年度表演藝術季。

In recent years, electric transportations have become increasingly popular due to their convenience, environmental friendly and other advantages. While electric cars are being equipped with ever newer technologies, there are few innovations in the bicycle market. For example, bike-riders often need to check their phones for navigation, which distracts the driver’s attention and is very inconvenient and unsafe. The Leuchtturm electric bicycle has a built-in navigator to remind the riders through the bicycle handlebar when they should make a turn. So as to achieve the function of navigating without mobile phone, earphones and other electronic devices, which allows the riders to focus more on bike-riding and traffic conditions to make bike-riding safer. A pair of turn signal lights is installed under the saddle to inform other vehicles and pedestrians. Also, the handlebar as a navigator can be installed on an ordinary bicycle as an accessory. In this way, bike riders can enjoy a safer riding experience without buying an entire Leuchtturm electric bike.

The design resulted from conversations with the Pattaya Redemptorist School for the Blind’s principal. The new facility was conceived to provide a new learning environment necessary to supplement the programme that, up until this point, he could only dream of offering. The main aim for the programme is to equip all students with fundamental skills for future livelihoods beyond the school’s gate. The school enrols pupils with varying degrees of visual impairment, and abilities thus the facility needs to be flexible. The school building is a typical reinforced concrete structure with standard square rooms finished in plaster and paint. The new facility is conceived as a new multi-sensory cube finished in vibrant mix of materials and texture, inserted in place of the existing library. Designed in alignment with Pre-Braille Curricula, the ailing library and adjoining balcony were transformed into a new multi-sensory facility for young children. The balcony’s spatial quality and its location adjacent to circulation route ensure its constant availability. The existing balustrade is replaced with an interactive façade, perforated with light holes, into which “learning pins” can be inserted. Inside the room, all six surfaces are designed to be interacted with. Children moves through the four walls as they progress through the curriculum nurturing their senses. Touch begins with the most basic shapes, then sizes relationships, texture and weight, to more complex shapes such as animals. On top of the Pre-Braille Curricula, children are taught to recognise potential harm from daily life. In collaboration with a scent specialist, scented capsules are designed to teach pupils about the smell of potential harm such as fire, smoke, gas leakage etc. Sound specialist made binaural recordings of various environment to stimulate students’ perception of the world. The lighting is designed to exercise and stimulate visibility in low vision children. The floor is embedded with braille tactile letters, Thai, English, and numbers for basic braille introduction. The project intends to be a prototype for cost effective multi-sensory facilities aimed specifically at creating firm foundations from which individuals can grow and prosper. The design, as well as knowledge compiled during the project lead time, have been made available to the public. As such individual households can modify the information to their appropriate circumstances so that as many children as possible will have the opportunity to grow up without boundaries.

Hundreds of different e-bikes exist in the market. The challenge was to come up with an innovative concept and a new visualization to stand out from the crowd and raise public interest. Our goal was to provide a new micro-mobility tool within the same basic platform for diverse users in various regions that have different regulations. OZO can transform from a pedal-assisted bike to a fully electric bike with footrests in place of a chain and pedals.

Window Architecture After Covid-19 A five-story complex building in Kyoto Japan. It is located 5 minutes walk from the station. Due to economic requirements, it was required to have 4 to 5 floors, but the site is 4m x 16m in strip shape and quite small. In addition, it is expected that the usage of the floor will change from restaurants and guest houses to rental housing or rental buildings depending on the situation surrounding this town. (It is predicted before Covid-19.) Therefore, by using a wall-type concrete structure, providing a staircase and an elevator core in the center, and providing an out-of-plane fluctuation on the outer peripheral wall on each floor, it is evenly spaced at 2m x 2m, and it fluctuates in all directions. We considered a structure consisting of the opening and 5 slabs. The programs on each floor are open, and the environment can be incorporated in three dimensions by the internal and external partitioning methods. A fluctuating wall supports such an open program as a minimum struct ure, provides various perspectives from the inside to the outside, and at the same time represents the liquidity of concrete. Soft flexibility is a building with full of windows, calls for free use, and encourages new uses even in small spaces.

Baba Beski is a sheikh-like Iranian environmentalist who upon his wish was buried in the same private garden where he used to live after passing away. The entire garden, which is re-designed as a memorial for his followers to remember and visit him, follows his ideas about human life and nature. The buildings inside the garden, including his library and tomb among others, display different stages of incompleteness of design, embodied in structures made of woven rebar constantly being changed or conquered by nature. At its current state, the garden is open to public, the tomb has been built while other constructions are still on-going.

The majority of traditional and new smart bicycle trainers are are heavy, difficult to store and difficult to handle. Ease of use and the ergonomics of product handling are not generally considered. While they are designed for indoor spaces, they are rarely designed with home environments in mind. The EXOS smart bike trainer developed by XCADEY in collaboration with Denmark’s Jacob Jensen Design presents a unique indoor cycling experience. The main structure is hidden within a smooth carbon fibre shell. Inspired by a stealth technology solutions and naturally occurring exoskeletons, the outer shell is characterized by its ultramodern architectural design. The carbon fibre shell has the holds together the entire product structure providing increased durability and allowing material savings during production. Its ultra slim design enables a very small footprint, making the EXOS smart trainer the narrowest bike trainer in the market. The collapsible wings and the ergonomically designed handle increases user comfort during lifting and carrying. The EXOS’ design also considers transportation and repairs. While most trainers need to be fully shipped for repairs and replacements, EXOS’ removable side panel allows users and vendors to remove specific pieces that need maintenance and replacement. This results in reduced shipping costs for product maintenance. EXOS encourages people to live a healthy life and consider sustainable means of transportation within urban environments.

THE GRAPHIC RISE OF BRITISH MODERNISM — JONATHAN ELLERY

A PUBLICATION All life in England now is here. Wrapped in boxes. Ticked after being negotiated around a table. Subtle, crisp, empty and locked in limbo. We are witness to a sharp break from the past with a thematic, formal and stylistic tone, here being set by Ellery, to reveal the fetishistic nature of English everyday life. Britain’s civilised war is afoot here, wrapped in boxes and ready to go. Are we contained within defined borders? In many ways, we always have been. There is more than a slightly menacing air to these photographs of England, for they scream, to me, of the state we’re in. I say England rather than the UK because these houses, garden sheds, kitchen tables and politicians are all subtle pointers to a singular country rather than a united pact of nations. It takes a keen eye to spot, but you need not be a sociologist to enjoy, for this book is a simple, brilliantly executed, thoughtful conversation starter. There are four undefined, but clear, chapters: houses, garden sheds, kitchen tables and politicians. To unpack the relevance of these let’s look at each from a micro and macro perspective, reminiscent of the 1977 Eames film, Powers of Ten, that zooms from finite to infinite. It has long been said that an Englishman’s home is his castle. This is often to denote the importance of independent power and autonomy. However, if we look at it within the current political climate, we see another angle, that of isolation, attack and defence. The garden shed has long been popular in English culture as a place where amateur innovation happens. A place for ‘tinkering’ with technology, a refuge for the male of the house from his wife and children, or a den for drinking illicit supplies of homemade wine and beer and looking at pornography. The kitchen table may have taken over from the shed when it comes to tinkering with innovation; small business empires are set up and run from around its cheap wooden frame. But here, the tables are empty. No one sits here. No one is working. There is no meal on the table. These are blank canvases. And then we come to the politicians. We see life, or do we? Perhaps, these are all crime scenes? I read a book with no words and yet conjured this narrative. In the island of Hormuz, in an underdeveloped Sothern region of Iran with little expert human and material resources available, the innovative building technique of Superadobe developed by Nader Khalili in the 1980s, which does not require any special skills and uses only simple abundant earth, has been updated to be used in the structure of a series of urban developments led by a semi-public institution with great social impact for the community. The simple building technique of Superadobe has made possible the participation and engagement of Hormuz inhabitants in the different building stages and maintenance of the project, providing them with jobs and economic gain. These developments, ranging from the temporary Community Center and Rong Event Center, to small museums with local stories, and the more recent Majara cultural and accommodation center, interweave the lives of the locals and the many tourists that visit the island on both a cultural and economic level.

SHAPING BY OVERLAPPING FIEDL - combines a simple chair with a lounge Chair. The shape results from the cutting of a two-dimensional surface. The overlapping of both parts of the surface makes it three-dimensional. The resulting organic form is broken by the static style of the steel frame. The floa- ting seat shell within the steel frame creates harmony between the fusion of the two distinct elements.

LET'S RUN is the first design and production project of flip & roll press. Back in 2018 when we just founded our risograph printing and design studio, we wanted to kick start with a collaborative project. To begin with, we invited three artists to join us for a few meetings and brainstorming sessions. We then came to a conclusion that the project would be making a deck of illustration playing cards, with the theme of "travel", which is our common interests. Our intention of producing playing cards was to make "art prints" more approachable to the wider public. With a total of five participants, one of us illustrated two joker cards, and the other four illustrated one suit (thirteen cards) each. For each card, it is a recollection of a very unique and personal travel experience — some of them are touching moments, while others are funny and stupid incidents. The illustrative stories are on the front of the cards, and a full page of "registration marks" pattern on the back. The pattern was inspired by printing marks used in commercial printing. All together, the deck expresses how much we are longing for the next trip abroad. The chinese logo of LET'S RUN is also inspired by the "failed prints" from the printing process. The deformed chinese characters echoes with the non-registered prints which usually looks like a piece of deconstruction art. The deck of cards are printed with risograph in black and gold colours (the only colour we had back then). Risograph is a digital printing technique very similar to screen printing. The "screen" is actually a piece of wax paper instead of a silk screen. The printing process is rather long and tedious as our machine could only print one colour at a time. The difficult part is to register the two colours on one side, plus the other colour on the other perfectly. After the printing is finished, we trimmed them into individual cards and cut all the corners rounded. Perhaps another hurdle was to craft the wooden boxes ourselves. As we wished to customise a perfect-fit box for the cards, given the limited quantity we needed, sourcing them online was not practical. We ended up buying long wood plaques, cutting them into sizes, routing out the slots, and putting them all together, with a sliding cover. It was not the most easiest job for someone who did not have a lot of wood-working experience. LET'S RUN was first sold at Taipei International Book Exhibition in spring 2018, then in Hong Kong in the following Easter. We were sponsored by the Hong Kong Open Printshop to organise a two-week exhibition about the project and risograph printing in summer.
